Community Service: Not Just Another Program
It’s really a ministry of an individual’s heart, a way of life. It’s meeting someone else’s need with the resources God has given you.
It is going to be hard to have this be a part of our character. Our culture encourages self-centeredness through consumerism. As adults, we pursue the American dream, which by its very definition demands that we are self-focused.
Jesus has called, equipped and is willing to empower us to live for someone other than ourselves.
To serve others in need is to become like Christ; “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
